1. Recall Summary
This recall involves Rinnai-brand i-Series Plus residential wall-mounted gas boilers. The recall was announced on June 5, 2025, by Rinnai America Corporation in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The recall number is 25313. Approximately 2,030 units were sold in the United States, and an additional 249 units were sold in Canada. The boilers were sold by independent heating and plumbing contractors and wholesale distributors nationwide, as well as online at Amazon.com, Homedepot.com, and Lowes.com from September 2024 through February 2025 for a price between $3,900 and $5,000. The boilers were manufactured in Japan.

2. Affected Products
The affected products are Rinnai i-Series Plus residential wall-mounted gas boilers with the following model numbers: IP175S, IP199S, IP175199C, and IP199199C. The boilers are rectangular and metal, with the name “Rinnai” printed in black near the top and a temperature display and keypad located near the bottom of the front of the boiler. The top white label on the side of the boiler states “MADE IN JAPAN” and includes the model number followed by a reference code in parenthesis, “TYPE OF GAS NATURAL GAS,” and “SERIAL NO.” followed by letters and numbers.

3. Hazard Information
The hazard associated with these boilers is that the boiler door can fail to seal properly due to incorrect screws. This failure can allow carbon monoxide (CO) gases to escape from the unit, posing a carbon monoxide poisoning hazard to consumers. As of the date of the recall notice, no injuries or incidents have been reported.

4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled boilers. Consumers who must continue using the boiler while awaiting repair should have working carbon monoxide alarms installed on each level of their homes and outside sleeping areas. Consumers should contact Rinnai to arrange for a certified technician to install the repair at no cost to the consumer.

5. Official Remedy
The official remedy for this recall is a repair. Rinnai will arrange for a certified technician to install the repair on the affected boilers at no cost to the consumer.
