1. Recall Summary
On May 28, 2026, Walmart Inc., in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a recall of Mainstays 9-Drawer Fabric Dressers. The recall was issued due to the dressers violating the mandatory safety standard for clothing storage units as required by the STURDY Act. The recall number is 26522. The dressers were manufactured by Hop Thang Interior Wood Co. Ltd., of Vietnam, and distributed by Walmart Inc., of Bentonville, Arkansas. The dressers were sold at Walmart stores nationwide and online at Walmart.com from September 2023 through March 2026 for approximately $80. Approximately 165,000 units are affected.

2. Affected Products
The recalled product is the Mainstays 9-Drawer Fabric Dresser. The dresser has a black metal frame and nine brown or black fabric drawers with handles. The dresser measures approximately 40 inches long, 13.75 inches wide, and 45 inches tall, and weighs 32 pounds. The dressers were manufactured from September 2023 through December 2025. The tracking/lot number and the manufacture date in MM/YYYY format are printed on a label located under the dresser’s top panel. The product name “Mainstays 9-Drawer Fabric Dresser” is printed on the product order receipt and packaging. No specific model numbers or UPCs are listed in the recall notice.

3. Hazard Information
The recalled dressers are unstable if they are not anchored to the wall. This instability poses tip-over and entrapment hazards that can result in risk of serious injuries or death to children. The dressers violate the mandatory safety standard as required by the STURDY Act. As of the date of the recall notice, no injuries have been reported.

4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled dressers if they are not anchored to the wall. Consumers should place the dressers in an area that children cannot access. Consumers should then contact Walmart for a full refund. Consumers will be asked to return the dressers’ drawers to any Walmart store. After returning the drawers, consumers must dispose of the dressers’ frame according to local and state regulations.
