The Chamberlain Group, owner of the LiftMaster brand, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a recall of LiftMaster myQ garage door control panels on February 9, 2023. This recall involves control panels sold individually or with wall-mount residential jackshaft garage door openers. The recall was issued due to a potential entrapment hazard. The manufacturer is Grupo Chamberlain S.de R.L. de C.V., of Mexico. The importer is Chamberlain Group LLC, of Oak Brook, Illinois. The recall number is 23725.

2. Affected Products
The recalled products are LiftMaster myQ garage door control panels. The words “LiftMaster” and “myQ” are printed on the front of the black control panels. The recalled control panels were manufactured between March 2022 and October 2022. The manufacture date, in MM/YY format, the model number, and the UPC code are printed on a label located on the back of the unit.

Approximately 96,400 units were sold in the United States, and about 19,300 units were sold in Canada. The products were sold online and in stores at The Home Depot, Lowe’s, Menards, and other stores and distributors nationwide from March 2022 through October 2022. The control panels sold for about $60 when sold as an accessory, and between $500 and $700 when sold as a bundle with a garage door opener.

3. Hazard Information
The control panel’s secondary entrapment protection system can fail, causing the garage door to close even with an obstruction present. This poses an entrapment hazard. As of the recall date, no injuries have been reported in the United States.

4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately contact the Chamberlain Group to receive a free repair kit, including shipping.
