Recall Summary
On November 3, 2022, Clarks Americas, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a recall of certain women’s shoes sold under the “Breeze” style name. The recall notice states that prolonged and direct contact with the shoes’ upper material can expose the wearer to the chemicals benzidine and/or dimethoxybenzidine, which are toxic and can cause adverse health effects. These shoes were sold during the Spring/Summer 2022 season. They were available at Clarks outlet stores and other retailers, including Macy’s, JC Penney, Kohl’s, QVC, Shoe Carnival, DSW, and Zappos, as well as online at Clarksusa.com and Amazon.com, from February 2022 through October 2022. The retail price was approximately $65. The shoes were manufactured in China. The importer is C&J Clark America Inc., a subsidiary of Clarks Americas, Inc., based in Needham, Massachusetts.

Hazard Information
According to the recall notice, prolonged and direct contact with the shoes’ upper material can expose the wearer to the chemicals benzidine and/or dimethoxybenzidine.
