3. Hazard Information
The recalled children’s chess games violate the mandatory standard for toys because they contain loose magnets. Loose magnets present an ingestion hazard to children. If high-powered magnets are swallowed, they can attract each other or other metal objects inside the body. Once lodged in the digestive system, the magnets can cause perforations, twisting, and/or blockage of the intestines. These conditions can lead to blood poisoning and death. The recall notice states that no injuries have been reported in connection with this product.
