The product was manufactured in France and imported by Petzl America, Inc., of Salt Lake City, Utah. The device is an aluminum adjustable friction descender with three rope installation options that allow the user to select the degree of friction before initiating a descent. It features a friction spur to increase braking power during descent and a plastic ring that keeps the connector positioned to facilitate rope installation while the device is connected to the harness. The descender is available in two colors: orange (model D005AA00) and black (model D005AA01). Serial numbers on the affected units range between 19 F 0000000 000 and 22 A 9999999 999.
