Plantimex Distributors, Inc., of San Diego, California, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a recall of Mamisan Pain Relieving Topical Ointment jars. The recall was initiated because the product violates the mandatory standard for child-resistant packaging under the Poison Prevention Packaging Act. The recall notice was published on December 18, 2025. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.

2. Affected Products
The recall involves Mamisan Pain Relieving Topical Ointment sold in a 3.52 ounce plastic jar. The container is orange with a white continuous thread lid. The Mamisan trademark is printed on top of the lid and on the product label. The wraparound label includes instructions and drug facts. Only jars bearing the UPC code 860006498115 are included in this recall. Approximately 50,330 units are affected. The product was manufactured by MiramarLab, of Doral, Florida, and distributed by Plantimex Distributors, Inc. The product was manufactured in the United States. The recalled ointment was sold at Walmart and Target stores nationwide and online at Target.com from April 2024 through October 2025 for approximately $10.

3. Hazard Information
The ointment contains lidocaine. The Poison Prevention Packaging Act requires that products containing lidocaine be packaged in child-resistant containers. The recalled ointment jars are packaged with a continuous thread lid, which is not child-resistant. This packaging failure poses a risk of serious injury or death from poisoning if the contents are swallowed by young children. As of the date of the recall notice, no incidents or injuries have been reported.

4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers who have purchased the recalled Mamisan Pain Relieving Topical Ointment jars should immediately secure the product out of the sight and reach of children. Consumers should then contact Plantimex to receive a free replacement lid. Once the product is secured with the replacement lid, consumers may use the product as directed.

5. Official Remedy
The official remedy offered by Plantimex is a repair. Specifically, the company will provide consumers with a free replacement lid that meets child-resistant packaging standards. No refund or replacement of the entire product is offered. Consumers are instructed to keep the product and apply the new lid upon receipt.
