1. Recall Summary

On June 13, 2024, Southern Telecom Inc., of New York, initiated a recall of approximately 19,500 Lomi Roll-On Waxing Kits. The recall was issued due to a defect in the product’s power cord. The recall notice states that the roll-on warmer’s power cord can overheat and short circuit, posing fire, burn, and electrical shock hazards. The firm has received two reports of the warmer’s power cord overheating and/or short-circuiting, including two consumers who suffered burns, and one incident of property damage. The recalled product was manufactured in China.

2. Affected Products

The recall involves the Lomi Roll-On Waxing Kit with Wax Cartridge & Wax Strips. The specific model number for the recalled kit is LOMB2003PK. The recalled boxed kits include a handheld wax warmer, a wax cartridge, wax strips, a power cord, and a user’s manual. The Lomi logo is printed on the front of the white and pink warmer, and on the outside of the product packaging. The Lomi logo and model number are on the bottom of the wax warmer. The kits were sold at Ross, DD’s, Bealls, and Burlington stores nationwide from April 2023 through October 2023 for about $13.

3. Hazard Information

The hazard identified in the recall notice is that the roll-on warmer’s power cord can overheat and short circuit. This condition poses fire, burn, and electrical shock hazards to consumers. The firm has received two reports of the warmer’s power cord overheating and/or short-circuiting. As a result of these incidents, two consumers suffered burns, and there was one report of property damage. No other incidents or injuries have been reported in the source data.
