1. Recall Summary
Indigo Books & Music Inc., of Short Hills, New Jersey, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a recall of Indigo branded Papa Bear and Mama Bear mugs. The recall was initiated due to the mugs posing burn and laceration hazards. The recall notice was published on November 23, 2022. The products were manufactured by Guangdong Totye, Ceramics, of Chaozhou, China, and imported and distributed by Indigo Books & Music Inc. The mugs were sold exclusively at the Indigo store in Short Hills, New Jersey from December 2020 through May 2022 for about $12. Approximately 270 units were sold in the United States, and an additional 29,232 units were sold in Canada.

2. Affected Products
The recall involves Indigo branded Papa Bear and Mama Bear mugs. The mugs are made of ceramic and have a white exterior. The Papa Bear mug features a “PAPA BEAR” decal and has a blue interior. The Mama Bear mug features a “MAMA BEAR” decal and has an aqua interior. Both mugs have white animal ears on the rim. The word “Indigo” is printed on the bottom of the mugs. The following batch numbers are included in the recall: 1220, 0621, 1021, or 0920. The batch number is printed on the bottom of the mug. The UPC numbers for the recalled mugs are 882709402770 and 882709402763. These UPC numbers are printed on a white price sticker located on the bottom of the mugs.

3. Hazard Information
The recalled mugs can crack or break when filled with hot liquid. This poses burn and laceration hazards to consumers. As of the date of the recall notice, no injuries had been reported in connection with this product.

4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Papa Bear and Mama Bear mugs. Consumers are instructed to return the mugs to the Indigo store for a full refund.

5. Official Remedy
The official remedy for this recall is a full refund. Consumers who return the recalled mugs to the Indigo store will receive a full refund for the purchase price.
