On October 23, 2025, J & D Brush Co., LLC of Commack, New York, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of Bio Ionic One-Inch-Long Barrel Curling Irons. The recall was initiated due to a defect that poses a burn hazard to consumers. The firm has received 258 reports of the curling iron barrel detaching, including six reports of minor burn injuries. Approximately 357,000 units were sold in the United States, and an additional 3,000 units were sold in Canada.
