This recall involves certain Generac brand electric start pressure washers and DR Power brand electric start pressure washers. The recall is an expansion of a previous recall announced by Generac Power Systems on April 28, 2022, which covered approximately 53,000 units. This expansion adds approximately 16,260 units in the United States and about 120 units sold in Canada. The pressure washers feature an electric start/stop button for the unit’s gasoline-powered engine, as well as a rechargeable battery used to power that button. The recall was initiated by Generac Power Systems Inc., of Waukesha, Wisconsin.

2. Affected Products
The recalled products are electric start pressure washers with the following specific model numbers:
– Generac Model G0089111
– Generac Model G0088941
– Generac Model G0088951
– DR Power Model DPW3109DEN

Model and serial numbers are printed on a label located on the product’s frame. The pressure washers were sold at major home improvement and hardware stores online and nationwide, including Menards, Home Depot, and Amazon, from November 2021 through February 2026. The retail price was between $500 and $590. The products were manufactured in the United States.

3. Hazard Information
The electronic start/stop button on the pressure washer can malfunction and cause the unit to self-start. If the unit self-starts in a confined space, it poses a risk of serious injury or death due to carbon monoxide poisoning. The firm, Generac Power Systems, has received six reports of the pressure washers self-starting. No injuries or property damage have been reported in connection with these incidents.

4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled pressure washer. Consumers should contact Generac to arrange for a free repair at their dealer’s location. The pressure washer can still be used with the battery removed by using the pull-start option to start the unit.
