1. Recall Summary
On January 4, 2024, H.H. Brown Shoe Company Inc., of Greenwich, Connecticut, initiated a voluntary recall of approximately 2,360 pairs of Redeemer DH 5379 Men’s 11” Waterproof Metguard Comp Toe Ropers Work Boots. The recall was published by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) under Recall Number 24072. The recalled boots were sold at shoe and workwear stores nationwide and online at doublehboots.com from February 2023 through October 2023 for about $190. The boots were manufactured in Vietnam.
2. Affected Products
The recall involves Redeemer DH 5379 Men’s 11” Waterproof Metguard Comp Toe Ropers Work Boots with the following manufacturing codes: VCJJ22, VCJC23, VCJD23, and VCJF23. The boots are pull-on style with a brown leather upper decorated in a western style theme. They feature a square toe, a one-inch heel, an EVA midsole, and a metatarsal guard. The words “Phantom Rider” and “Non-Metallic Toe” are embossed on the outer side of the leather upper. The words “Puncture Resisting Sole” are embossed in the leather at the back of the boot. A black label stating “Waterproof” is sewn into a seam on the outer side of the boot. A white label on the inside of the boot includes the model number DH5379, the size, and the manufacturing code. Only boots with the specified manufacturing codes are included in this recall. The model number is DH5379.
3. Hazard Information
According to the recall notice, the sole of the recalled boots is not puncture-resistant. This condition poses an injury hazard. As of the date of the recall notice, no injuries have been reported in connection with this product.
4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled boots. Consumers are instructed to contact H.H. Brown Shoe Company to obtain a prepaid shipping label. The boots must be returned to the company using that label.
