1. Recall Summary
On February 22, 2024, IKEA, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a recall of ÅSKSTORM 40W USB Chargers. The recall was issued due to burn and electric shock hazards associated with the product. The recall notice was published on the CPSC website under Recall Number 24125. The product was manufactured in China and imported by IKEA Supply AG, of Switzerland. The distributor is IKEA US Retail LLC, of Virginia.

2. Affected Products
The recall involves the IKEA ÅSKSTORM 40W USB Charger. The product consists of a charger unit and a detachable power cord with a C7 connector and a plug. The charger is gray in color. The model number ICPSW5-40-1 is printed on the label located on the back side of the charger. The product was sold at IKEA stores nationwide and online at IKEA.com from April 2020 through December 2023 for approximately $30. Approximately 22,600 units were sold in the United States, and an additional 10,250 units were sold in Canada.

3. Hazard Information
According to the recall notice, the USB charger’s cable can become damaged or break over time, posing burn and electric shock hazards. IKEA has received 17 incident reports globally related to this product. These reports include five reports of burns and four reports of electric shock. The recall notice explicitly states that no incidents or injuries have been reported in the United States.

4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers are instructed to immediately stop using the recalled ÅSKSTORM 40W USB Chargers. The recall notice provides two options for consumers to take action:
– Return the charger to any IKEA store for a full refund.
– If unable to return the charger to a store, contact IKEA for instructions on how to dispose of the charger to receive a full refund.

Proof of purchase (receipt) is not required to receive a full refund.

Consumers who are unable to return the product to a store should contact IKEA for disposal instructions and will also receive a full refund. No proof of purchase is necessary.
