Canyon Bicycles USA, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), has issued a recall for all Canyon Speedmax CF triathlon bicycle models R073 and R41 equipped with V21 aerostems. The recall was published on February 27, 2025, under CPSC Recall Number 25156. The recall involves approximately 1,400 units in the United States and an additional 380 units sold in Canada. The bicycles were manufactured in Taiwan and sold exclusively online at Canyon.com from May 2017 through July 2024, with prices ranging between $4,000 and $5,000.

2. Affected Products
The recall applies to all Canyon Speedmax CF triathlon bicycle models R073 and R41 that feature a V21 aerostem. The carbon fiber bicycles were sold in the following color schemes: black/red, black/blue, gray/orange, and red and black. Identifying marks include the word “Canyon” printed on the downtube, “Speedmax” printed on the top tube, and “V21” printed on the left side of the stem. The model number is located on a sticker at the top of the seat tube, just below the saddle. No other Canyon bicycle models or aerostems are included in this recall.

3. Hazard Information
The hazard associated with these bicycles is that the aerostem fork steerer tube can crack or break during use. This failure poses a fall and injury hazard to the rider. As of the recall publication date, no injuries have been reported in connection with this defect.

4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers who own a recalled Canyon Speedmax CF triathlon bicycle with a V21 aerostem are instructed to immediately stop using the bicycle. Consumers should contact a Canyon Authorized Service Partner to schedule a free repair. Canyon is contacting all known purchasers directly regarding the recall and repair process.

The official remedy for this recall is a free repair. The repair procedure will include removal and inspection of the fork steerer tube, a fork replacement if needed, and preventative reinforcement of the clamping area of the fork steerer tube.
