1. Recall Summary
4moms, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), has issued a recall for approximately 2 million MamaRoo infant swings and 220,000 RockaRoo infant rockers sold in the United States. An additional 60,000 MamaRoo and 10,000 RockaRoo units were sold in Canada. The recall was initiated due to entanglement and strangulation hazards associated with the restraint straps on these products when they are not in use. The recall notice reports one death and one injury involving the MamaRoo swing. No incidents involving the RockaRoo have been reported.

2. Affected Products
The recall includes the following products:

– 4moms MamaRoo Baby Swing: This recall applies only to MamaRoo models that use a 3-point harness. The affected versions are:
– Version 1.0 and Version 2.0 (Model Number: 4M-005)
– Version 3.0 (Model Number: 1026)
– Version 4.0 (Model Number: 1037)
– *Note: The MamaRoo model that uses a 5-point harness is not included in this recall.*
– The model number is located on the bottom of the unit.

– 4moms RockaRoo Baby Rocker: This recall applies to all RockaRoo rockers.
– Model Number: 4M-012
– The model number is located on the bottom of the unit.

The recalled products were sold at BuyBuy Baby and Target stores nationwide, as well as online at 4moms.com and Amazon, from January 2010 through August 2022. The retail price ranged between $160 and $250.

3. Hazard Information
The hazard involves the restraint straps on the swing or rocker. When the product is not in use, the restraint straps can dangle below the seat. A non-occupant crawling infant can become entangled in these dangling straps, posing a strangulation hazard.

The distributor, Thorley Industries, LLC (d.b.a. 4moms), has received two reports of entanglement incidents involving the MamaRoo swing. In both cases, infants became caught in the strap under the unoccupied swing after crawling under the seat. One incident involved a 10-month-old infant who died from asphyxiation. The second incident involved a 10-month-old infant who suffered bruising to his neck before being rescued by a caregiver. No incidents involving the RockaRoo have been reported.

4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers with infants who can crawl should immediately stop using the recalled swings and rockers. The products should be placed in an area where crawling infants cannot access them. Consumers should then contact 4moms immediately to register for a free repair kit.

5. Official Remedy
The official remedy is a Repair. Consumers are instructed to contact 4moms to receive a free strap fastener. This fastener is designed to prevent the straps from extending under the swing or rocker when not in use.
