1. Recall Summary
woom Bikes USA is recalling certain children’s bicycles due to a fall and crash hazard. The recall involves the ORIGINAL 6 model from model years 2016 to 2020, and the OFF 5, OFF AIR 5, OFF 6, and OFF AIR 6 models from model years 2019 to 2020. The bicycles are designed for children between 10 and 14 years old. The firm has received five reports of the crank breaking, including one report of an injury to a child. The bicycles were manufactured in Cambodia.

2. Affected Products
The recalled products are woom bicycles models: OFF 5, OFF AIR 5, OFF 6, OFF AIR 6, and ORIGINAL 6. The ORIGINAL 6 bikes were sold in red, green, blue, purple, and yellow colors. The OFF mountain bikes were available in black frames with silver forks. The OFF 5 has 24-inch wheels and a silver carbon front fork. The OFF 6 has 26-inch wheels and a silver carbon front fork. The OFF AIR 5 has 24-inch wheels and a silver suspension front fork. The OFF AIR 6 has 26-inch wheels and a silver suspension front fork. The ORIGINAL 6 has 26-inch wheels. The word “woom” is displayed on the sides of the downtube in white letters and on the front of the headtube. The recalled cranks have no space between the well with the woom logo and the pedal thread. Approximately 2,500 units were sold. The bicycles were sold online exclusively at www.woom.com in the U.S. from September 2016 through October 2020 for between $500 and $900.

3. Hazard Information
The hazard is that the crank can break due to fatigue fractures, causing the rider to lose control, posing fall and crash hazards. The firm has received five reports of the crank breaking, including one report of an injury to a child.

4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bicycles and contact woom Bikes USA for instructions on how to get a free replacement crankset. Consumers can use the online crank checker tool found at woom.com to determine if their bicycle is affected by the recall. All known purchasers are being contacted directly by woom.

5. Official Remedy
The official remedy is a free replacement crankset. Consumers with affected cranksets will be sent a free replacement that must be installed by a bike repair technician at their preferred bike shop. Reimbursement in the way of a check will be issued for the consumer’s crank replacement expense upon submission of the repair receipt.
