1. Recall Summary
On August 14, 2025, Werner Co., of Itasca, Illinois, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a recall of approximately 122,250 Werner 20-foot and 24-foot Multi-Max Pro multi-purpose ladders. The recall was initiated due to a fall hazard associated with the ladders’ locking mechanism. The firm has received 18 reports of falls, including 14 reports of injuries resulting in bruising, lacerations, head injuries, and fractures to the wrist, leg, and ribs.

2. Affected Products
The recalled products are Werner 20-foot and 24-foot Multi-Max Pro multi-purpose ladders. The ladders were sold in silver with a blue top and a blue label on the side rail. The label includes an oval containing the word “Werner” next to the words “MULTI MAX PRO,” along with the size and model number. The affected model numbers are ALMP-20IAA (20-foot) and ALMP-24IAA (24-foot). The ladders also have a long black rope in the back section. The product UPCs are 051751143171 (20-foot) and 051751143188 (24-foot). The ladders were manufactured in China. They were sold at Home Depot stores nationwide and online at HomeDepot.com from November 2021 through February 2024, with average prices between $200 and $281.

3. Hazard Information
The ladders’ locking mechanism can jam and not fully lock into place, posing a fall hazard. As of the recall date, Werner has received 18 reports of falls involving these ladders. Among those reports, 14 involved injuries, including bruising, lacerations, head injuries, and fractures to the wrist, leg, and ribs.

4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled ladders. Consumers must register at http://www.wernerco.com/recalls to receive details on how to dispose of the recalled ladder. After disposal is complete, consumers should contact Werner to receive a full refund. The recall notice does not specify any alternative action such as a repair or replacement.
