Recall Summary
This recall involves unexpired Travel Size Afrin® Original Nasal Spray 6 mL bottles. The recall was initiated by Bayer HealthCare LLC, of Whippany, New Jersey, and published on April 30, 2026. The affected products were sold at retailers such as convenience stores and travel hubs including airports from September 2024 through April 2026 for approximately $7 to $9. Affected Products
The recalled product is the Travel Size Afrin® Original Nasal Spray in 6 mL bottles. The bottles have “Afrin® Original Nasal Spray” and “1/5 FL OZ (6 mL)” printed on a label located on the front of the bottle. The affected lot numbers are: 230361, 240822, 241198, 250066, 250152, 250646, and 250831. Each bottle has a six-digit lot number followed by the expiration date in the format “YYYYMMM”. Only the 6 mL travel size is included in this recall. No other sizes of Afrin are affected. Approximately 786,100 units are subject to this recall.
Hazard Information
The 6 mL nasal sprays contain an imidazoline. Under the Poison Prevention Packaging Act, products containing imidazoline must be in child-resistant packaging or must meet the labeling requirements for non-complying packaging. The recalled 6 mL nasal spray’s packaging is not child-resistant and does not bear the required labeling statement. This poses a risk of serious injury or illness from poisoning if the contents are swallowed by young children. No injuries have been reported as of the recall date.
Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately secure the recalled bottles out of sight and reach of children. Consumers should then go to the webform posted on www.livewell.bayer.com/afrin-original-spray-recall to begin a request for a refund. As part of the refund process, consumers will be asked to take and submit a photo of the product before disposing of it in order to receive a refund. The recall notice does not specify any alternative disposal instructions beyond submitting the photo.
