Recall Information Record – Thule RideAlong Rear-Mounted Child Bike Seats

1. Recall Summary
On April 4, 2024, Thule, of Seymour, Connecticut, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a recall of Thule RideAlong rear-mounted Child Bike Seats. The recall was initiated due to a chemical ingestion hazard. The recall notice states that the harness padding of the seats can contain the flame-retardant DecaBDE in excess of regulatory limits. DecaBDE can be toxic if it is ingested or comes into contact with skin or eyes. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.

2. Affected Products
The recall involves Thule RideAlong rear-mounted Child Bike Seats that fit most bicycle frames. The seats are gray with a black 3-point harness padding. The model number and date code are located on the bottom side of the seat. Only model number 100107 and date codes 21/3 through 23/10 (representing March 2021 to October 2023) are included in this recall. The seats were sold at REI and baby stores nationwide and online at Amazon.com and Thule.com from May 2017 through October 2023 for approximately $300. The number of units affected is about 8,640 in the United States, and about 3,880 were sold in Canada. The product was manufactured in Poland.

3. Hazard Information
The hazard identified in the recall notice is that the harness padding of the Thule RideAlong bike seats can contain the flame-retardant DecaBDE in excess of regulatory limits. DecaBDE can be toxic if it is ingested or comes into contact with skin or eyes. The recall notice explicitly states that no injuries have been reported.

4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled RideAlong seat. Consumers must contact Thule Group to register for a free replacement harness padding and to receive instructions on how to return the recalled padding. The recall notice also states that Thule is contacting all known consumers.

The official remedy is a replacement. Consumers will receive a free replacement harness padding after registering with Thule and returning the recalled padding. Instructions for returning the recalled padding will be provided by Thule upon registration.
