1. Recall Summary

This recall involves Werner brand Stealth and Covert model kayak paddles. The recall was initiated by Werner Paddles, of Tennessee, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The recall notice was published on October 30, 2025. The paddles were manufactured in the United States.

2. Affected Products

The recalled products are the Werner Stealth and Werner Covert kayak paddles. The brand name “Werner” appears on decals on both blades of the paddle. The model name (“Stealth” or “Covert”) is printed on the right paddle blade. The paddles are made of black carbon fiber.

Approximately 700 units were sold in the United States. An additional 25 units were sold in Canada.

The paddles were sold at various retailers nationwide and online, including:

3. Hazard Information

The recalled kayak paddles can break during use. According to the recall notice, the firm has received 80 reports of the paddles breaking during use. No injuries have been reported. The hazard identified is a drowning hazard.

4. Consumer Action Required

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled kayak paddles. Consumers must then contact Werner Paddles to initiate the remedy process. To proceed, consumers should fill out a recall form available at the following URL: https://wernerpaddles.com/pages/covert-stealth-recall-consumers.

To collect the refund or obtain the store credit, consumers must follow the instructions provided on the Werner website. As part of the remedy process, consumers are required to destroy the recalled kayak paddle by cutting it into four equal pieces. The cutting instructions specify cutting halfway through each blade and halfway through the left and right side of the shaft. After destroying the paddle, consumers must upload a photo of the destroyed paddle to the Werner website.

5. Official Remedy

The official remedy is a full refund. The refund will be provided in the form of a check or a store credit redeemable online. The refund is issued after the consumer completes the recall form, destroys the paddle as instructed, and uploads the required photo.
