1. Recall Summary
This recall involves South Shore brand Balka and Olena cribs. The cribs were sold in white and natural wood colors. The products are made of wood and measure approximately 37 inches high, 54 inches long, and 30 inches deep. The model number is printed on an adhesive label located on one end of the crib. The recall was initiated due to a violation of the federal regulation for full-sized cribs. The importer is South Shore Industries LTD, of Canada. The cribs were manufactured in Malaysia.

– Model 13825: Balka Baby Crib with Adjustable Height, Pure White
– Model 13824: Balka Baby Crib with Adjustable Height, Pure White and Natural Wood
– Model 12937: Balka Baby Crib with Adjustable Height, Pure White and Natural Wood
– Model 12938: Balka Baby Crib with Adjustable Height, Pure White
– Model 14408: Olena Baby Crib with Adjustable Height, Pure White
The products were sold at Amazon.com, Cymax.com, Walmart.com, Southshorefurniture.com, and other websites. The cribs were sold from July 2020 through February 2024. The retail price was approximately $415 to $475. The number of units affected is about 1,200.
3. Hazard Information
The hazard identified in the recall notice is that the spacing between some of the crib’s slats is wider than allowed under the federal safety standard. This condition poses an entrapment hazard to children. As of the date of the recall notice, no injuries have been reported.
4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled cribs. Consumers must contact South Shore for information on how to disassemble the product. To receive a full refund, consumers are instructed to take a photo of the disassembled crib in an outdoor waste container and email the photo to service@southshorefurniture.com. South Shore, Amazon.com, and Walmart.com are contacting all known purchasers directly.

The official remedy for this recall is a full refund. The refund is issued after the consumer provides a photo of the disassembled crib in an outdoor waste container.
