1. Recall Summary
Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. (BRP), of Canada, is conducting a voluntary recall of certain model year 2024 Ski-Doo MXZ and Renegade snowmobiles. The recall was published on February 29, 2024. The recall involves approximately 8,100 units in the United States and an additional 5,600 units sold in Canada. The vehicles were sold at Ski-Doo authorized dealers nationwide from June 2023 through January 2024 for a retail price between $10,000 and $18,000.

2. Affected Products
The recall applies to all model year 2024 Ski-Doo MXZ and Renegade snowmobiles equipped with Pilot X skis. The vehicles were sold in a variety of colors. The “Ski-Doo” brand name and the specific model name (MXZ or Renegade) are printed on the side panels of the vehicles. The specific component subject to the recall is the left ski, which is identified by the engraving “Pilot X” located at the back of the ski on the upper side. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is located on a decal on the right-hand side of the tunnel underneath the seat. Dealers can verify which specific VINs are included in this recall. The importer for the United States is BRP US Inc., of Sturtevant, Wisconsin.

3. Hazard Information
The hazard identified in the recall notice is that the snowmobile’s left ski can break. This condition poses a risk of serious injury and crash hazard. The firm has received 27 reports in the United States of the snowmobile’s left ski breaking. There are no reports of injuries in the United States. The firm is aware of one incident in Canada resulting in an injury.

4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers are instructed to immediately stop using the recalled snowmobiles. Consumers should contact BRP to schedule a free inspection and repair at an authorized dealership. BRP is contacting all purchasers directly regarding this recall.

The official remedy is a repair. BRP will provide a free inspection and will replace the left ski at no cost to the consumer. The repair will be performed at an authorized Ski-Doo dealership.
