Recall Summary
On March 16, 2022, Specialized Bicycle Components Inc., of Morgan Hill, California, expanded a prior recall of Sirrus, Sirrus X, and Sirrus Sport bicycles equipped with alloy cranks. The original recall, announced on September 23, 2020, involved approximately 36,000 units. This expansion adds about 19,000 additional bicycles. The recall notice was published by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) under Recall Number 22100. The bicycles were sold at authorized Specialized retailers nationwide and online from July 2020 through March 2022 for between $850 and $1,700. The total number of units in this expanded recall is about 19,000, in addition to the approximately 36,000 units previously recalled.

Hazard Information
The hazard identified in the recall notice is that the crank arm can disengage from the bicycle. This can cause the rider to lose control, posing fall and injury hazards. Specialized Bicycle Components has received 30 reports involving the crank arm disengaging on model year 2021 or 2022 Sirrus X 3.0 and 4.0 bicycles. No injuries have been reported in connection with these incidents.
