Prestone Products Corporation, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a recall of Shop Pro RV & Marine Antifreeze products. The recall was published on March 16, 2022. The recall involves approximately 325 units of the product. The products were sold exclusively at AutoZone stores nationwide during October 2021 for about $6. The manufacturer is Prestone Products Corporation, of Torrance, California. The distributor is Best Parts Inc., of Memphis, Tennessee. The product was manufactured in the United States.

2. Affected Products
The recall specifically involves Shop Pro RV & Marine Antifreeze products manufactured by Prestone for AutoZone. The affected products are one-gallon, clear plastic bottles filled with blue fluid. The bottles have the text “Shop Pro RV & Marine Antifreeze” printed on the front. The identifying mark for recalled units is the date code “FT21281” printed on the bottom of the bottle, below the back label. Bottles filled with pink liquid are properly labeled and are not included in this recall.

3. Hazard Information
The recalled bottles, labeled as Shop Pro RV & Marine Antifreeze, were improperly filled with a product containing methanol. These improperly filled bottles do not have the mandatory cautionary label for products containing methanol. The missing warnings include that the vapors are harmful and that the product can be fatal or cause blindness if swallowed. Additionally, the directions printed on the bottle for properly flushing a potable water system can fail to adequately remove the methanol, presenting a risk of ingestion. Products containing methanol pose a poisoning hazard through inhalation or if ingested. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.

4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled antifreeze. Consumers who have already used the mislabeled product in any potable water system SHOULD NOT DRINK WATER FROM THE SYSTEM and should immediately contact Prestone Products for instructions on how to properly flush their water system.
