Sauder Woodworking Co., of Archbold, Ohio, is recalling the tip-over restraint straps that were sold and distributed with certain Sauder and Sauder Beginnings brand dressers and 4-drawer chests. The recall involves restraint straps included with units manufactured between July 2020 and August 2023. The recall was initiated due to a failure of the tip-over restraint straps, which can prevent tip-over incidents when functioning correctly. The recall notice states that no injuries have been reported. The recall is also being conducted in conjunction with Health Canada, as noted in a related recall alert.

2. Affected Products
The recall involves tip-over restraint straps sold with Sauder and Sauder Beginnings brand clothing storage units, specifically dressers and 4-drawer chests. The affected units have a date of manufacture sticker located on the back of the unit, with manufacture dates between July 2020 and August 2023. The units were sold in various colors. The recalled units were sold at Cook Brothers, Homemakers Furniture Plaza, and Menards stores nationwide, as well as online at Amazon.com, Best Buy.com, CYMAX.com, Home Depot.com, Menards.com, Sauder.com, Target.com, Urbanoutfitters.com, Walmart.com, and Wayfair.com and other websites. The units were sold from July 2020 through December 2024 for between $200 and $335. Approximately 15,800 units are included in this recall. The units were manufactured in Malaysia.

3. Hazard Information
The tip-over restraint straps can fail when used on certain Sauder clothing storage units (dressers and 4-drawer chests) to prevent tip-over incidents. This failure poses tip-over and entrapment hazards that can result in death or serious injuries to children. The recall notice explicitly states that no injuries have been reported in connection with this hazard.

4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately check if their clothing storage unit has a date of manufacture sticker on the back of the unit. If the date of manufacture is between July 2020 and August 2023, consumers should contact Sauder to arrange for a free replacement tip-over restraint kit to be mailed to the consumer at no cost. Consumers should remove the old tip-over restraint and install the new one once received. While waiting for the replacement kit, consumers should keep children away from the unit.

5. Official Remedy
The official remedy is a replacement. Consumers who own an affected unit will receive a free replacement tip-over restraint kit, mailed at no cost. The consumer is responsible for removing the old restraint strap and installing the new one upon receipt.
