Sauder Woodworking Co., of Archbold, Ohio, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a recall of tip-over restraint straps sold and distributed with certain Sauder and Sauder Beginnings brand dressers and 4-drawer chests. The recall was published on February 20, 2025, under CPSC Recall Number 25146. The recalled tip-over restraint straps were included with clothing storage units manufactured between July 2020 and August 2023. They were sold from July 2020 through December 2024 for between $200 and $335. Approximately 15,800 units are included in this recall. The units were manufactured in Malaysia.
Hazard Information
The tip-over restraint straps can fail when used on certain Sauder clothing storage units (dressers and 4-drawer chests) to prevent tip-over incidents. This failure poses tip-over and entrapment hazards that can result in death or serious injuries to children. No injuries have been reported.
Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately check if their clothing storage unit has a date of manufacture sticker on the back of the unit, and if that date falls between July 2020 and August 2023. If the unit is within that date range, consumers should contact Sauder to arrange for a free replacement tip-over restraint kit to be mailed to the consumer at no cost. Consumers should remove the old tip-over restraint and install the new one once received. Consumers are instructed to keep children away from the unit while waiting for a replacement tip-over restraint kit.

The official remedy is a free replacement tip-over restraint kit. Consumers are to contact Sauder to arrange for the kit to be mailed at no cost. The consumer is responsible for removing the old restraint and installing the new one.
