Recall Information Record: HabiLife Direct Retractable Safety Gates

1. Recall Summary
On March 13, 2025, a recall was announced for retractable safety mesh gates marketed as baby or dog gates. The recall was issued by HabiLife Direct, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The recall involves approximately 880 units sold exclusively on Amazon.com. The recall notice states that the gates violate federal safety regulations for expansion gates and expandable enclosures. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.

2. Affected Products
The recalled product is the HabiLife Direct Retractable Safety Gate, model number SG021. The gates were sold in white, gray, and black. They measure approximately 34 inches high with an adjustable width up to about 55 inches and feature an aluminum frame. The words “Retractable Safety Gate” and the model number “SG021” are printed on a white label located on the inside of the frame on the side of the gate’s handles. The gates were sold on Amazon.com from September 2024 through January 2025 for between $35 and $45. The distributor is Yiwushihengchuansanyeyouxiangongsi, dba HabiLife Direct, of China. The manufacturer country is China.

3. Hazard Information
According to the recall notice, the recalled gates violate the federal safety regulations for expansion gates and expandable enclosures. The specific hazard is that a child’s torso can fit through the opening between the gate and the floor, posing a risk of serious injury or death due to entrapment. No injuries have been reported as of the date of the recall notice.

4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers are instructed to stop using the recalled gates immediately. Consumers must contact HabiLife Direct for a full refund. As part of the remedy process, consumers will be asked to destroy the gates by cutting the mesh and disposing of the gates. After destroying the gates, consumers must send a photo of the destroyed gates to the email address service@hblife.fans. HabiLife Direct and Amazon are contacting all known purchasers directly.

5. Official Remedy
The official remedy for this recall is a full refund. Consumers who purchased the recalled gates are eligible for a full refund upon following the destruction and photo submission instructions provided by HabiLife Direct.
