Recall Summary
On July 24, 2025, Pura Scents Inc., of Pleasant Grove, Utah, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a recall of the detachable covers for Pura 4 Smart Home Fragrance Diffusers. The recall was initiated because the magnets inside the detachable cover can detach, posing an ingestion hazard to children. The recall notice states that the firm has received three reports of the magnets detaching from the cover. No injuries have been reported. The recall number is 25408.
Affected Products
The recall involves the Pura 4 Smart Home Fragrance Diffusers’ detachable cover. The diffuser measures approximately 4 inches wide and 4 inches long. The detachable cover contains five magnets: three small magnets and two larger magnets. The serial number is located on the rear label above the metal prongs. Affected diffusers have serial numbers within the following ranges: JX230000001 to JX230801425 and JX240000001 to JX240049959. The products were sold at Pura.com, Amazon.com, Target.com, and Scheels.com, as well as at Target, Scheels, and other stores nationwide from August 2023 through May 2025 for about $50. Approximately 851,400 units were sold in the United States, and an additional 1,100 units were sold in Canada. The diffusers were manufactured in China.
Hazard Information
The hazard identified in the recall notice is that the magnets on the inside cover can detach, posing an ingestion hazard to children. The notice states that when high-powered magnets are swallowed, the ingested magnets can attract each other, or other metal objects, and become lodged in the digestive system. This can result in perforations, twisting and/or blockage of the intestines, infection, blood poisoning, and death. The firm has received three reports of the magnets detaching from the cover. No injuries have been reported.
Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately dispose of the existing detachable cover while waiting for the replacement cover. Consumers should keep the diffusers out of the reach of children and pets.
