1. Recall Summary
On March 17, 2022, Acme United Corporation, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a recall of PhysiciansCare brand over-the-counter drugs. The recall was issued because the products fail to meet the child-resistant packaging requirement under the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA). The recall notice was published on the CPSC website under Recall Number 22733. Approximately 165,000 units are affected. No injuries have been reported.

2. Affected Products
The recall includes the following PhysiciansCare brand products: Extra Strength Non Aspirin, Aspirin, Extra Strength Pain Reliever, Ibuprofen, Medication Station, and Multi-Pack. These products contain aspirin, acetaminophen, or ibuprofen. They are packaged in cardboard boxes of 50, 100, 250, and 500 tablets per box. Specific tablet amounts per product are as follows:
– Extra Strength Non Aspirin: Acetaminophen (500 mg) in 50, 100, 250, and 500 tablets, and 2 boxes of 100 tablets each.
– Aspirin: Aspirin (325 mg) in 50, 100, 250, and 500 tablets.
– Extra Strength Pain Reliever: Acetaminophen (250 mg) and Aspirin (250 mg) in 100 and 250 tablets.
– Ibuprofen: Ibuprofen (200 mg) in 100, 250, and 500 tablets, and 2 boxes of 100 tablets each.
– Medication Station / Multi-Pack: Acetaminophen (500 mg), Aspirin (325 mg), Ibuprofen (200 mg), and Antacid (420 mg) in 4 boxes of 100 tablets each with outer station, and 4 boxes of 100 tablets each without outer station. The Antacid is not subject to this recall.

The products were sold at Amazon.com and FSAstore.com from February 2014 through June 2021 for between $5 and $50. The manufacturer is Acme United of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, and Acme United of Vancouver, Washington. The products were manufactured in the United States.

3. Hazard Information
The recalled over-the-counter products contain regulated substances (aspirin, acetaminophen, or ibuprofen) which must be in child-resistant packaging when being used in the household, as required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA). The packaging of the products is not child resistant, posing a risk of poisoning if the contents are swallowed by young children. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.

4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately store the recalled products in a safe location out of reach of children. Consumers should then contact Acme United for information on how to dispose of or return the product. Acme United is contacting all purchasers directly.
