Plantimex Distributors, Inc., of San Diego, California, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a recall of Mamisan Pain Relieving Topical Ointment jars. The recall was published on December 18, 2025. The recall was initiated because the product violates the mandatory standard for child-resistant packaging under the Poison Prevention Packaging Act. The product contains lidocaine, and the packaging is not child-resistant, posing a risk of serious injury or death from poisoning if the contents are swallowed by young children. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.

2. Affected Products
The recall involves Mamisan Pain Relieving Topical Ointment sold in 3.52 ounce plastic jars. The container is orange with a white continuous thread lid. The Mamisan trademark is printed on top of the lid and on the label. The wraparound label includes instructions and drug facts. Only jars with UPC code 860006498115 are included in the recall. Approximately 50,330 units are affected. The product was manufactured in the United States by MiramarLab, of Doral, Florida. The product was sold at Walmart and Target stores nationwide and online at Target.com from April 2024 through October 2025 for about $10.

3. Hazard Information
The hazard identified in the recall notice is that the ointment contains lidocaine, a substance which must be in child-resistant packaging as required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act. The ointment’s packaging is not child-resistant. This poses a risk of serious injury or death from poisoning if the contents are swallowed by young children. No injuries or incidents have been reported to the firm or to the CPSC in connection with this recall.

Consumers should immediately secure the recalled ointment jars out of the sight and reach of children. Consumers should then contact Plantimex to receive a free replacement lid. Once the product is secured with the replacement lid, consumers can use the product as directed.
