1. Recall Summary
Mushie & Co, LLC, of Houston, Texas, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a recall of FRIGG Silicone Pacifiers. The recall was initiated due to a choking hazard. The recall notice was published on January 19, 2022. The importer of the product is Mushie & Co, LLC. The manufacturer is FRIGG Production ApS / FB Trading ApS, of Denmark. The recall involves approximately 333,725 units sold in the United States.
2. Affected Products
The recalled products are FRIGG Silicone Pacifiers. The pacifiers came in two designs: Classic and Daisy. The Classic design consists of a silicone nipple attached to a round plastic shield. The Daisy design consists of a silicone nipple attached to a round scalloped plastic shield. Each design was available in two sizes: 0-6 months and 6-18 months. The name “FRIGG” appears in raised letters on the handle of the pacifier shield. The pacifiers were sold in over 40 colors.
The recalled pacifiers were sold at SpearmintLOVE, TJ Maxx, Lil’ Tulips, and Olivia & Jade Company stores nationwide, as well as online at www.mushie.com and www.amazon.com. The products were sold from April 2021 through December 2021. The retail price was approximately $8 for a single pacifier and approximately $15 for a pack of two pacifiers.
3. Hazard Information
The hazard associated with these pacifiers is a choking hazard. The base of the silicone nipple has a fine slit that can cause the nipple to detach from the plastic shield. According to the recall notice, Mushie & Co has received eight reports of the silicone nipple detaching from the plastic shield of the pacifier. In addition, the manufacturer has received approximately 200 reports from outside the U.S. of the silicone nipple detaching from the plastic shield of the pacifier. No injuries have been reported in connection with this hazard.
4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled pacifiers. Consumers should then cut the silicone nipple from the base of the pacifier. After cutting the nipple, consumers must send a photograph of both the detached silicone nipple and the base of the pacifier to Mushie & Co at the following website: mushie.com/pages/recalls. After sending the photograph, consumers should properly dispose of the pacifier by placing both pieces into the garbage.
