1. Recall Summary

MerchSource LLC, of Irvine, California, is recalling approximately 46,200 units of FAO Schwarz branded toy wood activity products. The recall includes two products: the Toy Wood Play Smart Robot Buddy and the Toy Wood Sensory Board. The recall was initiated due to a manufacturing issue that can cause small parts to come loose from the toys. The products were sold at FAO Schwarz and Target stores nationwide and online at www.faoschwarz.com and www.target.com from November 2021 through February 2022. The Toy Wood Play Smart Robot Buddy was sold for about $60, and the Toy Wood Sensory Board was sold for about $25. The products were manufactured in China.

2. Affected Products

The recall involves the following two products:

– FAO Schwarz Branded Toy Wood Play Smart Robot Buddy: This is a sensory activity box with a robot factory inspired design. It features spinners, knobs, and gear and bead manipulation activities. The word “Robot Factory” is written on the side of the activity box. The batch number for this product is 35227A21210. The batch number is located on the inside panel of the activity box. Approximately 26,400 units of this product are included in the recall.

– FAO Schwarz Branded Toy Wood Sensory Board: This is a sensory activity center featuring spinners, flippers, a maze, and a musical xylophone with a connected mallet. The words “FAO Schweetz Shop” are written on the top of the board. The batch number for this product is 59945A21207. The batch number is screen printed in black on the back of the board. Approximately 19,800 units of this product are included in the recall.

No model numbers or UPCs were specified in the recall notice.

3. Hazard Information

Due to a manufacturing issue, small parts from the products can come loose. This poses a choking hazard to young children. The firm has received 20 reports of small parts coming loose or falling off of the toys. This includes nine reports of parts coming loose or falling off of the Toy Wood Play Smart Robot Buddy and 11 reports of parts coming loose or falling off of the Toy Wood Sensory Board. No injuries have been reported.

4. Consumer Action Required

Consumers should immediately take the recalled toys away from children and stop using them. Consumers must then contact MerchSource to receive a pre-paid label to return the recalled toys. Instructions on how to receive a full refund will be provided upon contacting the firm.

The official remedy for this recall is a full refund. Consumers will receive a full refund after returning the recalled toys to MerchSource using the pre-paid label provided by the firm.
