1. Recall Summary
Fisher-Price Inc., of East Aurora, New York, is recalling the plastic dumbbell toy sold with the Baby Biceps Gift Set. The recall was initiated on August 29, 2024. The recall number is 24351. The recall involves approximately 366,200 units in the United States and an additional 37,850 units sold in Canada. The product was manufactured in China and Vietnam.
2. Affected Products
The recalled product is the plastic dumbbell toy included in the Fisher-Price Baby Biceps Gift Set. The bar of the dumbbell toy is gray with orange and red plastic weights on each side. The model number for the gift set is GJD49, which is located on the back of the kettlebell toy in the set. The dumbbell toy was sold as part of the Baby Biceps Gift Set at Walmart, Kohls, Fred Meyer, Hobby Lobby, Marshalls, TJMaxx, Buy Buy Baby, and Target stores nationwide, as well as online at Amazon.com, Walmart.com, Zulily.com, Target.com, and other websites. The gift set was sold from April 2020 through August 2024 for approximately $18.
3. Hazard Information
The gray caps on the ends of the dumbbell toy can come off, posing a choking hazard to infants. The firm has received seven reports in the United States of the ends of the dumbbell coming off of the product. No injuries have been reported.
4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled dumbbell toy and take it away from young children. Consumers should contact Fisher-Price to receive a refund. Consumers must visit www.service.mattel.com/us/recall.aspx for instructions on how to upload a photograph of the dumbbell toy and how to properly dispose of it. Once the consumer provides confirmation that the dumbbell toy will be disposed of as directed, the consumer will be paid $10 for the dumbbell toy only. Consumers can keep the remaining toys in the Baby Biceps Gift Set. Proof of purchase (receipt) is not required to receive a refund for the dumbbell.
5. Official Remedy
The official remedy is a refund. Consumers will receive $10 for the recalled dumbbell toy only. The refund is contingent upon the consumer uploading a photograph of the dumbbell toy and providing confirmation that the dumbbell toy has been disposed of according to the instructions provided by Fisher-Price.
