2. Affected Products
The affected products are Daikin FIT, Amana Brand S-series, and Goodman SD heat pumps that provide heating and cooling. The following specific model numbers are included in this recall:

– Amana Brand S-Series: ASZS601810-AA, ASZS601810-AB, ASZS602410-AA, ASZS602410-AB, ASZS60241E-AB, ASZS603010-AA, ASZS603010-AB, ASZS603610-AA, ASZS603610-AB
– Goodman SD: GSZS601810-AB, GSZS602410-AB, GSZS603010-AB, GSZS603610-AB

Approximately 56,000 units were sold in the United States, and an additional 5,522 units were sold in Canada. The units were sold by independent heating and cooling dealers nationwide from May 2022 through April 2024, with prices ranging between $2,200 and $5,700. The units were manufactured in the United States and Thailand.

3. Hazard Information
The hazard associated with these heat pumps is that a power interruption can result in the product providing heat when the power resumes, despite the thermostat being in cooling mode. This poses a risk of excessive heat exposure to consumers. As of the date of the recall notice, no injuries have been reported.

4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately take the following actions as specified in the recall notice:
– For consumers whose Daikin FIT, Amana Brand S-series, or Goodman SD heating and cooling systems are connected to WiFi: Daikin Comfort Technologies (DCT) is updating the software remotely.
– For consumers with systems not connected to WiFi: Consumers should register for the recall at http://www.goodmanmfg.com/fit-recall to receive instructions to perform the update.

5. Official Remedy
The official remedy is a repair. Daikin Comfort Technologies (DCT) is providing a software update to address the hazard. For WiFi-connected units, the update is performed remotely. For units not connected to WiFi, consumers must register online to receive instructions on how to perform the update.
