On November 13, 2025, Tesla, Inc., of Reno, Nevada, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a recall of certain Tesla Powerwall 2 AC Battery Power Systems. Consumer Action Required

Tesla has remotely discharged (or removed energy from the battery of) affected Powerwall 2 systems that are online, to prevent overheating, until the replacement is installed. Consumers should not attempt to remove or service the unit themselves. Consumers should follow the instructions provided by Tesla through the Tesla App or through direct communication from Tesla.
Official Remedy
The official remedy is a replacement. Tesla will provide a replacement Powerwall 2 unit for affected consumers. The replacement will be installed by a certified Tesla installer at no cost to the consumer. Tesla has already begun remotely discharging affected units that are online to mitigate the hazard until the replacement is installed.
