Recall Summary
On July 3, 2025, Positec Tool Corporation, of Charlotte, North Carolina, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a recall of certain Hyper Tough, Worx, and Portland brand electric corded chainsaws and pole saws. The recall involves approximately 49,000 units in the United States and an additional 3,000 units sold in Canada. The products were manufactured in China.

The recall includes the following products, identified by brand, model, appearance, and specific identifiers:
– Hyper Tough 9 Amp Electric Corded 14” Chainsaw – Black saw with red trim, marked “Hyper Tough” on the saw body and on the bar. Item/SKU: HT21-401-002-01. Sold at Walmart stores and Walmart.com. Manufacture date range: October 10, 2024, through December 1, 2024.
– Worx 8 Amp 14” Electric Chainsaw – Orange and black saw marked “WORX” on the saw body and on the bar. Model: WG305. Sold at Worx.com and Amazon.com. Serial numbers with first six digits between 202408 and 202501.
– Worx 8 Amp Electric Pole Saw – Orange and black saw marked “WORX” on the saw body and on the bar, shipped with an 8-foot pole extension. Model: WG309. Sold at Worx.com and Amazon.com. Serial numbers with first six digits between 202408 and 202501.
– Portland 9 Amp 14” Chainsaw – Green saw with a black bar, marked “Portland” on the bar. SKU: 58949. UPC: 193175451774. Sold at Harbor Freight stores and HarborFreight.com. Serial number range: between 37567 2442 and 37567 2451.
The products were sold nationwide at Walmart (Hyper Tough brand only) and Harbor Freight (Portland brand only) stores, and online at Worx.com, Amazon.com, and HarborFreight.com from September 2024 through March 2025 for between $50 and $120.
Hazard Information
The main switch on the recalled chainsaws and pole saws can fail, allowing the saws to continue to run even after the switch is released. This poses a laceration hazard. As of the date of the recall notice, no injuries have been reported.
Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled products. Consumers should contact Positec to receive a pre-paid shipping label and, if needed, a new box to return the units free of charge.

Positec will provide a free replacement chainsaw or pole saw upon receipt of the recalled product. The remedy is a replacement.
