1. Recall Summary
On July 11, 2024, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) published Recall Number 24298 regarding Atomi Smart Heaters. The recall involves approximately 99,400 units in the United States and an additional 10,700 units sold in Canada. The heaters were imported by Atomi Smart, of New York, and manufactured in China. The heaters were sold at Amazon, Ace Hardware, Atomiusa.com, Best Buy, BJ’s Wholesale Club, Costco, Hammacher Schlemmer, Home Depot, Lowes.com, Menards, Sam’s Club, and Walmart stores nationwide, as well as online, from October 2019 through April 2024. Prices ranged from $80 to $150, depending on the model.
3. Hazard Information
The recalled smart heaters can turn on without user input. This poses fire and burn hazards. The firm has received one report of the heater turning on without user input. No injuries have been reported.
4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled heaters and unplug the units. Consumers must follow the instructions online at www.atomiheaterrecall.com to receive a full refund. During the registration process, consumers will be asked to cut the unplugged unit’s power cord and upload a photograph of the cut cord, as well as a photograph of the manufacturer’s label on the underside of their units.
