1. Recall Summary
On June 5, 2025, Apollo America Inc., in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a recall of certain Combination Smoke and Carbon Monoxide (CO) Detectors. The recall was initiated because the detectors can malfunction and fail to alert consumers to a fire or carbon monoxide leak. The products were sold exclusively by Vivint, of Lehi, Utah, through online sales at www.Vivint.com, door-to-door sales, and telephone sales from June 2024 through October 2024. The retail price was between $50 and $100. Approximately 50,000 units are affected in the United States. No injuries have been reported.

2. Affected Products
The recalled product is the Apollo America Combination Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector, model number 51000-600. The detector is white in color. On the front of the unit, the text “Replace by” is printed, followed by a date ranging from 2034/June to 2034/October. On the back of the detector, the brand name “Apollo” and the model number 51000-600 are printed. The detectors were manufactured in the United States. The recall includes all units with the specified model number and date range. Consumers can verify whether their detector is included by checking the model number and “Replace by” date on the product.

3. Hazard Information
The recalled detectors can malfunction and fail to alert consumers of a fire or carbon monoxide (CO) leak. This failure poses a risk of smoke inhalation, carbon monoxide poisoning, or death. No incidents or injuries have been reported to the company or CPSC as of the recall date.

4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers should continue using the recalled detectors until they receive and install the replacement unit. Upon receiving the replacement detector, consumers must install it immediately. After the replacement detector is installed, consumers must write “recalled” on the original product, remove the batteries, and dispose of the detector in their household garbage. Important battery disposal note: If a consumer chooses to dispose of the detector’s primary/non-rechargeable lithium battery, the battery must not be thrown in the trash or placed in general recycling bins (e.g., street-level or curbside recycling bins). Lithium batteries present a greater risk of fire and must be disposed of differently than other batteries. Consumers may take the lithium battery to a municipal household hazardous waste (HHW) collection center or to battery recycling boxes found at various retail and home improvement stores. Before taking the battery to a HHW collection center, consumers should contact that office ahead of time to ask whether it accepts lithium batteries. If the HHW center does not accept lithium batteries, consumers should contact their municipality for further guidance.

5. Official Remedy
Vivint is sending a free replacement detector to all known purchasers. Consumers do not need to return the recalled detector to the retailer. The remedy is a product replacement at no cost to the consumer.
