1. Recall Summary

ECHO Inc., of Lake Zurich, Illinois, is recalling approximately 3,900 units of its ECHO gas-powered backpack blowers. The recall was initiated because the fuel supply line on the affected blowers can leak gasoline. This condition poses a fire hazard. The recall was published on August 1, 2024. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.

2. Affected Products

The recall involves two specific models of ECHO 59.7cc gas-powered backpack blowers: model numbers PB-5810H and PB-5810T. These blowers are designed for both residential and commercial use. The units are orange and black in color, with the word “ECHO” printed on the starter recoil housing. The model and serial numbers are located on a label near the right side of the black blower fan housing.

The following serial number ranges are included in this recall:
– Model PB-5810H: Serial numbers P61312001001 to P61312002590
– Model PB-5810T: Serial numbers P61212001001 to P61212004155

The recalled blowers were sold at Golden Eagle Distributing Company, of Rocklin, California, and by independent dealers nationwide from May 2024 through June 2024. The retail price was approximately $430. The products were manufactured in the United States.

3. Hazard Information

The hazard identified in the recall notice is that the fuel supply line can leak gas. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source poses a fire hazard. As of the date of the recall notice, no injuries or incidents have been reported to the manufacturer or the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

4. Consumer Action Required

Consumers are instructed to immediately stop using the recalled backpack blowers. Consumers should not operate the blower until the remedy has been performed. Consumers should contact an authorized ECHO dealer to schedule an appointment to bring the unit in for service. ECHO is contacting all known purchasers directly regarding this recall.

5. Official Remedy

The official remedy for this recall is a free repair. Consumers must take their recalled ECHO gas-powered backpack blower to an authorized ECHO dealer. The dealer will install a new replacement fuel line at no cost to the consumer. To locate an authorized dealer, consumers can use the store locator tool available on the ECHO website.
