On May 8, 2025, deuter USA, of Longmont, Colorado, announced a recall of Kid Comfort, Kid Comfort Pro, and Kid Comfort Active Child Carriers. The recall was published by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) under Recall Number 25256. Approximately 5,080 units are affected in the United States. The products were manufactured in Vietnam.
Affected Products
The recall involves three models of child carriers: Kid Comfort, Kid Comfort Pro, and Kid Comfort Active. These are backpack-style carriers with a foldable frame that includes hinges. The products were sold in the following color and model combinations:

The carriers were sold at REI, Bass Pro, and other stores in the United States, as well as online at deuter.com and Amazon.com and other websites. They were sold from March 2023 through March 2025 for between $240 and $370.
Hazard Information
The hinges on the foldable rear kickstand support leg can crack or break, posing a fall hazard. The firm has received 13 reports of hinges cracking and breaking. No injuries have been reported.
