1. Recall Summary
Academy Sports + Outdoors, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), has issued a recall for Magellan-branded Odyssey Rocker Chairs. The recall was published on January 22, 2026. The recall is due to a hazard involving the chair’s legs breaking, which poses injury and fall hazards to consumers. The recall involves approximately 35,300 units in the United States.

2. Affected Products
The recall involves Academy Sports + Outdoors’ Magellan-branded Odyssey Rocker Chairs. The recalled chairs were sold from September 2025 through October 2025. The chairs are constructed with a metal frame and a mesh backrest, and feature a carrying handle and a drink holder on the side. The Magellan Outdoors logo is printed on the front of the backrest. The chairs measure approximately 25.2 inches long by 5.5 inches deep by 37.4 inches high when folded, and 25.4 inches long by 25.2 inches deep by 37.4 inches high when opened. The chairs were sold in four colors: charcoal, navy, olive green, and teal.

Only chairs with a manufacture date of July 2025 or August 2025 are included in this recall. The manufacture date is printed in MM/YYYY format on a tracking label sewn onto the seat of the chair. The tracking label also includes the text “ACADEMY, LTD” and the number “177296.” The chairs were manufactured in Cambodia. The chairs were sold at Academy Sports + Outdoors stores nationwide and online at academy.com for approximately $50.

3. Hazard Information
According to the recall notice, the recalled chairs’ legs can break. This poses injury and fall hazards to consumers. Academy Sports + Outdoors has received one report of a chair’s legs breaking. No injuries have been reported in connection with this hazard.

4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled chairs. Consumers should return the recalled chairs to any Academy Sports + Outdoors store for a full refund. Alternatively, consumers can contact Academy’s Customer Care to arrange for the return of the chair by mail at no cost to the consumer.

The official remedy for this recall is a full refund. Consumers who return the recalled chair to an Academy Sports + Outdoors store will receive a full refund. Consumers who contact Academy’s Customer Care to return the chair by mail will also receive a full refund at no cost for shipping.
