Recall Information Record – Reclia Database

1. Recall Summary
On July 21, 2025, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) published Recall Number 25393 concerning certain above-ground swimming pools. The recall involves approximately 5 million units sold in the United States and an additional 266,000 units sold in Canada. The recall was issued jointly by Bestway (Hong Kong) International Ltd., Intex Recreation Corp. (Long Beach, California), and Polygroup North America Inc. (El Paso, Texas). The pools were manufactured in China and have been sold since 2002.

2. Affected Products
The recalled products are above-ground pools that are 48 inches and taller and have compression straps running on the outside of the pool and over the vertical support legs. The brand names and model numbers are printed on the pool liner on the outside of the pool. The following brands and model ranges are included:

Bestway and Coleman Models (Sold 2008 to 2024): Power Steel, Steel Pro, Coleman Power Steel.
Intex Models (Sold 2002 to 2012): Metal Frame Pools, Ultra Frame Pools.
Intex Models (Sold only at Intexcorp.com and Walmart, 2024 to 2025): 266 pools, Prism Frame Pool, Ultra XTR Frame Pool.
Polygroup Models (Sold 2006 to 2025): Summer Waves (2015-2025), Summer Escapes (2006-2015), Funsicle (2023-2025), Sand n Sun (2008-2011), Blue Wave (2014-2025).

The recalled pools have been sold since 2002 at stores nationwide, including Walmart, Target, Sears, Lowe’s, Kmart, Toys “R” Us, Sam’s Club, The Home Depot, Big Lots, Costco, and BJ’s, as well as online at Amazon.com, Wayfair.com, and the Bestway USA, Intex, Funsicle, and Summer Waves websites.

3. Hazard Information
The hazard involves the compression strap that surrounds the outside of the pool legs. This strap may create a foothold, allowing a child to climb and gain access to the pool, posing a drowning risk. CPSC reports that nine children between the ages of 22 months and 3 years old drowned after gaining access to the pools via the footholds. These incidents occurred in California, Texas, Florida, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Missouri between 2007 and 2022. CPSC is also aware of three other incidents in 2011 and 2012 where children who gained access to the recalled pools were reported to have previously used the compression strap to gain entry to the pool.

4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately ensure that children cannot access the recalled pool unattended. As an alternative, consumers may drain the pool until a repair can be installed. Consumers should contact the appropriate manufacturer (Bestway, Intex, or Polygroup) to request a repair kit.

5. Official Remedy
The official remedy is a repair. Consumers are instructed to contact Bestway, Intex, or Polygroup to request a repair kit. The repair kit is intended to eliminate the foothold hazard created by the compression strap.
