1. Recall Summary
Colony Brands Inc., of Monroe, Wisconsin, is recalling children’s covered wood-sided wagons. The recall was initiated because the paint on the wood wagons, the plastic handles, and the red plastic cover contain levels of lead that exceed the maximum allowable limits under the federal lead paint ban. This poses a lead poisoning hazard to young children if the paint is ingested. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall. The recall was published by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) as a Recall Alert.

2. Affected Products
The recall involves children’s covered wood-sided wagons. The wagons feature a red and white metal frame with black handle grips and black wheels. The wagon has a 150-pound capacity and measures 34 inches high by 23 inches wide by 22 inches high (40 inches high with the cover). The wagon comes with a red plastic covering. The lot number 210503SSM is printed on the bottom of the wagon. The products were manufactured in China. Approximately 20 units are affected by this recall. The wagons were sold at Montgomery Ward’s and Ginny’s catalogs and online at Wards.com and Ginnys.com from September 2021 through October 2021 for about $100.

3. Hazard Information
The hazard identified in the recall notice is that the paint on the wood wagons, the plastic handles, and the red plastic cover contain levels of lead that exceed the maximums allowed by federal regulation. The recall notice states that excessive levels of lead can be toxic or cause other health problems to young children if the paint is ingested. As of the date of the recall notice, no injuries or incidents have been reported.

4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately take the recalled wagons away from children. Consumers should return the recalled wagons for a full refund. The involved retailers are contacting all known purchasers to arrange returns. Consumers will be provided with pre-paid shipping labels and return instructions.
