Maxtrade LLC, of Carrollton, Texas, is recalling approximately 141,000 units of its Coolster Mountopz brand youth All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs). The recall was initiated due to the vehicles failing to comply with the requirements of the federal mandatory ATV safety standard. The recall notice was published by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on February 2, 2022. The vehicles were manufactured in China and sold nationwide by Maxtrade dealers and online retailers from January 2007 through January 2021.

2. Affected Products
The recall includes the following Maxtrade Coolster Mountopz ATV models: 3050-B, 3050-C, 3125-B2, 3125-CX-2, 3125-CX-3, 3125-XR8-U2, 3150-CXC, 3150-DX-4, 3175-S2, and 3175-U. The vehicles were sold in various colors. The brand name “Coolster” is stamped on the handlebar, and the specific model number is printed in the center of the rear axle. These ATVs are intended for use by children aged 6, 10, and 12 years and older, or for teenagers, depending on the specific model. The vehicles were sold at Maxtrade dealers nationwide, including ABC Bikes & Toys & Motorcycles, Affordable Excitement, All Star Scooters, ATV Wholesale Outlet, Dallas Power Sports, Dirt Cheap Motorsports, Mopeds & More, Mooney Motorsports, Rebel Racing, Rock City Cycles, Sooner Cycles, and Upstate Cycle. They were also sold online at Amazon.com, Familygocarts.com, Killermotorsports.com, Superiorpowersports.com, Walmart.com, and Youthmotorsports.com. The retail price range for the recalled ATVs was between $370 and $1,100.

3. Hazard Information
The recalled ATVs fail to comply with the requirements of the federal mandatory ATV safety standard. Specifically, the youth ATVs fail to meet the maximum speed limitations for vehicles intended for children ages 6, 10, and 12 years and older, or for teenagers, depending on the model. Additionally, for certain ATVs, the parking brakes do not prevent the movement of the vehicle. According to the recall notice, ATVs that fail to meet the mandatory safety requirements pose a risk of serious injury or death. As of the date of the recall notice, no injuries have been reported in connection with these vehicles.

4. Consumer Action Required
