1. Recall Summary
On May 4, 2023, CultureFly LLC, of New York, initiated a recall of approximately 6,600 L.O.L. Surprise! Trick or Treat-themed subscription boxes sold with metal doll pins. The recall was issued due to the violation of the federal lead paint ban. The recall notice was published by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) under Recall Number 23752. The recalled products were sold online at thelolsurprisebox.com and www.amazon.com from October 2021 through December 2021 for about $38 for the subscription box. The metal doll pins were manufactured in China.

2. Affected Products
The recalled product is the CultureFly L.O.L. Surprise! Trick or Treat-themed subscription box sold with a metal doll pin. The purple boxes feature an image of three dolls, spiderwebs, skulls, and bats. The phrases “L.O.L. Surprise!” and “Trick or Treat” are printed on the top of the box. The metal doll pin included in the box has blue, pink, and purple hair in pigtails, blue eyes, pink shoes, and a pink bra and underwear. The doll pin includes magnetic, cutout clothes to dress the doll. No model numbers or UPCs are specified in the recall notice. The number of units affected is about 6,600.

3. Hazard Information
The paint on the children’s metal doll pins contains levels of lead that exceed the federal lead paint ban. This poses a lead poisoning hazard. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects. As of the date of the recall notice, no injuries or incidents had been reported.

4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately take the recalled metal doll pins away from children and stop using them. Consumers should then contact CultureFly for a $10 refund. Consumers will receive an e-mail from CultureFly with instructions to return or dispose of the recalled metal doll pins in accordance with local state laws. Consumers will be contacted directly by CultureFly regarding the return or disposal process.

5. Official Remedy
The official remedy for this recall is a refund. Consumers are entitled to a $10 refund from CultureFly for the recalled metal doll pin. The refund is for the metal doll pin only, not the entire subscription box. Consumers must follow the instructions provided by CultureFly to receive the refund.
