Recall Summary
This recall involves Rust-Oleum Professional Fluorescent Pink Marking Paint. The recall was initiated by Rust-Oleum Corp., of Vernon Hills, Illinois. The product is a 15 oz. metal can of fluorescent pink marking paint with a fluorescent pink plastic lid that matches the color of the paint. Cans sold at Lowe’s state “WATER BASED FORMULA” on the can. The lot code for units sold at Lowe’s is S34052. The lot code for units sold through other retailers is S34054. The lot code is printed on the bottom of the can. Only these two lot codes are included in the recall. Approximately 84,000 units are affected.

Affected Products
The recalled product is Rust-Oleum Professional Fluorescent Pink Inverted Marking Spray Paint, sold in 15 oz. metal cans. The cans have a fluorescent pink plastic lid. The lot codes are S34052 (for units sold at Lowe’s) and S34054 (for units sold through other retailers). The lot code is located on the bottom of the can. The products were sold at Home Depot, Lowe’s, Menards, and hardware stores nationwide, as well as online at amazon.com, homedepot.com, and Lowes.com from April 2023 through July 2023. The retail price was approximately $10. The manufacturer is Rust-Oleum Corp., of Vernon Hills, Illinois. The product was manufactured in the United States.

Hazard Information
The hazard identified in the recall notice is that the can’s spray valve assembly can detach with force, posing an impact injury hazard. The firm has received five reports of the spray valve assembly and plastic cap detaching with force, causing paint to splatter. No injuries have been reported.

Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled spray paint cans. Consumers should take a photo of the product and the date code on the bottom of the can. The product should then be wrapped in a plastic bag and placed out of reach of children. Consumers should contact Rust-Oleum for a full refund at recall@rustoleum.com. Consumers will be asked to provide the photos of the product and the date code on the bottom of the can, as well as their name and mailing address to receive the refund. Consumers should dispose of the recalled product in accordance with local requirements.
