Recall Summary
On November 9, 2023, Twin-Star International Inc., of Boca Raton, Florida, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a recall of certain infrared quartz electric fireplaces. The recall notice was published under CPSC Recall Number 24023. The products were sold exclusively at Lowe’s stores nationwide and online at Lowes.com from September 2021 through January 2023 for approximately $200. The units were manufactured in Vietnam. According to the recall notice, Twin-Star and Lowe’s have received 24 reports of overheating, fire, or smoke incidents involving these fireplaces. These reports include two instances of property damage. No injuries have been reported.

Affected Products
The recall involves Twin-Star Style Selections 42-inch-wide, 5,200 BTU, Black Infrared Quartz Electric Fireplaces with model number 42HF295FGT. Only units manufactured before January 2023 are included. The recalled units are identified by the following date codes printed on the back panel: 0521; 0322; 0422; 0522; 0622; 0722; and 0822. The model number and the name “Twin-Star International, Inc.” are printed on the top panel of the fireplace. The date code and serial number are printed on the back panel. Approximately 14,670 units are affected by this recall.

Hazard Information
The hazard identified in the recall notice is that the electric fireplaces can overheat, posing a fire hazard. This determination is based on the 24 reports of overheating, fire, or smoke incidents received by Twin-Star and Lowe’s, which include two reports of property damage. No injuries have been reported in connection with these incidents.

Consumer Action Required
Consumers are instructed to immediately stop using and unplug the recalled electric fireplace. After doing so, consumers should contact Twin-Star to obtain a refund of the purchase price.
