1. Recall Summary
On April 4, 2024, Thule, of Seymour, Connecticut, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a recall of Thule RideAlong rear-mounted Child Bike Seats. The recall is due to a chemical ingestion hazard involving the harness padding. The recall notice was published under CPSC Recall Number 24182. Approximately 8,640 units were sold in the United States, and an additional 3,880 units were sold in Canada.

2. Affected Products
The recall involves Thule RideAlong rear-mounted Child Bike Seats that fit most bicycle frames. The recalled seats are gray with a black 3-point harness padding. Only model number 100107 is included in this recall. The date codes for affected units are 21/3 through 23/10, which correspond to production dates from March 2021 to October 2023. The model number and date code are located on the bottom side of the seat. The seats were manufactured in Poland. They were sold at REI and baby stores nationwide and online at Amazon.com and Thule.com from May 2017 through October 2023 for approximately $300.

3. Hazard Information
The harness padding of the recalled Thule RideAlong bike seats can contain the flame-retardant chemical DecaBDE in excess of regulatory limits. According to the recall notice, DecaBDE can be toxic if it is ingested or comes into contact with skin or eyes. This poses a chemical hazard. As of the date of the recall notice, no injuries had been reported in connection with this hazard.

4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled RideAlong seat. Consumers are instructed to contact Thule Group to register for a free replacement harness padding. Consumers will also receive instructions on how to return the recalled padding. Thule is contacting all known consumers directly regarding this recall.

The official remedy for this recall is a replacement. Thule will provide consumers with a free replacement harness padding. Consumers must register with Thule and follow the provided instructions to return the original recalled padding in order to receive the replacement.
