Recall Information Record: Gasaciods Children’s Multi-Purpose Helmets
Recall Summary
On April 18, 2024, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) published Recall Number 24201 regarding Gasaciods children’s multi-purpose helmets. The recall was initiated by the importer, Dongguan Feng Wang Sports Goods Co., Ltd., doing business as Fengwang Sports, of China. The helmets were sold exclusively online at Temu.com from July 2023 through January 2024 for between $23 and $42. Approximately 18 units are affected by this recall.
Affected Products
The recalled products are Gasaciods children’s multi-purpose helmets designed to fit a head circumference of approximately 19-1/2 to 20-1/2 inches. The helmets were sold in two colors: pink and blue. Each helmet features red removable padding, black straps, and a black and red buckle. A red plastic knob is located at the back of the helmet, which includes a LED warning light for adjusting the fit. The word “GASACIODS” is printed on the sides of the helmet. The helmets were manufactured in China. No model numbers or UPC codes are specified in the recall notice.
Hazard Information
According to the recall notice, the recalled Gasaciods helmets do not comply with the CPSC federal safety regulation for bicycle helmets in four specific areas: positional stability, dynamic strength of retention system, impact attenuation, and certification requirements. As a result of these violations, the helmets can fail to protect a child in the event of a crash, posing a risk of head injury. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.
Consumer Action Required
Consumers are instructed to immediately stop using the recalled Gasaciods helmets. To receive a refund, consumers must destroy the helmet by cutting off the straps, then take a photograph of the destroyed helmet. The photograph must be sent to the recalling firm either by email or by sending an onsite message to Fengwang Sports on Temu.com. After submitting proof of destruction, consumers should dispose of the recalled helmets.
Official Remedy
The official remedy for this recall is a refund. Consumers who follow the destruction and documentation process described above will receive a refund from Fengwang Sports.
