Recall Information Record – Canyon Speedmax CF Triathlon Bicycles

1. Recall Summary
Canyon Bicycles USA Inc., in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a recall of all Canyon Speedmax CF triathlon bicycle models R073 and R41 equipped with V21 aerostems. The recall was published on February 27, 2025. The bicycles were sold online at Canyon.com from May 2017 through July 2024 for between $4,000 and $5,000. Approximately 1,400 units were sold in the United States, and an additional 380 units were sold in Canada. The recall notice states that no injuries have been reported.

2. Affected Products
The recall includes all Canyon Speedmax CF triathlon bicycle models R073 and R41 with V21 aerostems. The carbon fiber bicycles were sold in the following colorways: black/red, black/blue, gray/orange, and red and black. The brand name “Canyon” is printed on the downtube. The model name “Speedmax” is printed on the top tube. The identifier “V21” is printed on the left side of the stem. The model number (R073 or R41) can be found on a sticker located at the top of the seat tube, just below the saddle. The bicycles were manufactured in Taiwan.

3. Hazard Information
According to the recall notice, the aerostem fork steerer tube on the recalled bicycles can crack or break. This condition poses a fall and injury hazard to the rider. The recall notice states that no injuries have been reported in connection with this hazard.

4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers are instructed to immediately stop using the recalled bicycles. Consumers should contact a Canyon Authorized Service Partner to schedule a free repair. Canyon is contacting all known purchasers directly regarding the recall. No other action is specified in the recall notice.

5. Official Remedy
The official remedy is a free repair. The repair will include removal and inspection of the fork steerer tube. If needed, a fork replacement will be performed. Additionally, preventative reinforcement of the clamping area of the fork steerer tube will be completed. The remedy is provided at no cost to the consumer.
